Dairy kefir is a sour drinkable fermented milk tonic made from cow's or Goat's milk.

These dairy kefir grains are prepared using organic milk. Grains come vacuum sealed and dehydrated. A Re-hydration brew is required. Full instructions are provided with trouble shooting, and email support. Use a Glass jar with a plastic lid for best results, we recommend our 1/2 Gallon Brewing Jar.

Directions & Cautions

Directions

1. Add 1 cup of Pasteurized Milk to Jar.
2. Transfer dried Kefir Grains to jar and cover with lid, let sit for 24 hours 20-30˚ until grains are plump.
3. Strain grains from milk. If milk is too thick, add fresh milk and shake well before straining.
4. Place Grains back in clean Jar and fill with 2 cups of fresh milk.
5. Cover with plastic lid and let stand for 10-12 hours at 20-30˚.
6. Place covered jar on counter top, out of direct sunlight.
7. Strain out Grains and repeat step 4-7. Transfer Kefir to a clean jar and refrigerate or go on to step 8.
8. OPTIONAL: Add the peel of 1 orange, and let kefir sit for 2 hours on counter top, before refrigeration to allow second fermentation.
9. Keep Kefir in the refrigerator and use in place of yogurt, sour cream, or as a daily tonic. Try step 10 with fresh berries, banana, pineapple, or cinnamon stick.
10. Keep Kefir Grains fed every day or store them in the refrigerator with milk.
